I miss the old commercials that have catchy jingles.. Like "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pies! They're straight from the sewer!" I also admit they tasted like crap... >_>

Nowadays all we have is boring "Lawsuit, lawsuit, weight loss, lawsuit, insurance, lawsuit.."

You know why? The highest grossing sales isn't from selling toys and food to kids. It's from selling services and DRUGS to them. ^__^

Don't believe me? Check out the latest influx of guys with erectile dysfunction. I mean every other commercial nowadays is about a guy who is smiling uncontrollably as he is throwing a football through a hanging car tire or waving like an idiot at random women. Are the males in this country (US) having that much of a problem now or is our TV just flooded with people that want to lose weight, need sleep, shorten this, lengthen that...? The side effects may include nausea, headaches, heart attacks, blood clots, and occasionally, DEATH... Read the labels lately? XD

Ah right, I forgot the dysfunction. xD

Lol the side-effects are worse than what they are curing.

Yeah, but they can make the commercials ENJOYABLE at least.. I haven't laughed at a commercial since the flying sumo-wrestler airline one.. xD

Along with commercials, where has originality gone? I don't see new creative things on TV excluding that damn Oxy-Clean guy.. Dude, he's stealing all the good stuff! xD

Actually I'll tell you what studies have shown. I'm a marketing major and so they tell us that people (teens and older targeted audiences) were starting to easily see through how commercials and ads were advertising things. Subtle messages were no longer subtle and so they tend to focus on ways to get your attention instead of trying to sell you a message. Jingles don't work as well as...

BLEEEP. "Yo, where you at?"

So wait, people didn't know an advertisement was an advertisement?

And my bro told me that if you remember a commercial, the company did their job because you still remember it. No matter how annoying. My example is "Head On, apply directly to the forehead".

Exactly. Three repetitions is the magic number. They say the crap 3 times, including the phone number.

The worse is when you remember the commercial but don't remember the product. If it's too creative and overshadows the product, then they failed. ^__^

Head On? don't remind me. and they say in the commercial something like, "the commercial stinks. but, the product works!" xD

yeah, it's for headaches. it took me a while to know too.

and i SWARE. the people they show for products DON'T use the product(at least i think so).

xD they're always smiling, walking their dog, playing some kid of sport, or talking to friends. if they truly used the product with all those side-effects, they wouldn't seem that happy. i do realize that they're supposedly "cured" from the product, but, they're just too happy.

Yeah and some of the products out there are insane..

For example, I saw a thing called HD-Wrap-around glasses. They're supposed to be sunglasses that provide sight "Like Clear HD-Television Picture!" First of all, HD television is better than real life sight? xD

The wrap-around part. It fits over your subscription glasses "Like a glove!" Or so they say. I noticed how NONE of the people in the commercial demonstrated the wrap-around lol.

Yeah, the advertisements have Over-Dramatic or Unenthusiastic actors..

This is a perfect example of a great funny commercial that I couldn't remember what it was advertising. It was one of those super bowl commercials that I just laughed so hard at, but heck if I knew who made it!

Well I will have to say that the commercials are getting lazier... but as a society we are getting that way as well.. we want something to fix all our problems and if we can get money from something/someone for something stupid.. we will do that too...

I hate to say it, but I miss the corny stuff that they use to do for commercials... :)
