As I have looked at the TFL guild on Neopets, I have thought of a plan to nab more members and get them into the crazy things we do. I create this thread for the members of the TFL Neopets Guild to chat and discuss the future of TFL on Neopets..

First things first,

Any suggestions for new members?

The broad strokes of my plan is to get the people I can recruit onto the TFL Forums there. After we deem them worthy (And mature, lol) enough, we will bring them here. Thus, expanding our members and activity. Of course, recruiting guild members may sound tough, think about how easy it was in the beginning? Remember, this is a very vague idea of my plan.

Post any response you have to this idea of increasing our community here and DISCUSS!

(And just in case I didn't say it enough, NEOPETS. xD)

So wait, your plan is to recruit them to the Guild first, then this forum? I'm so confused.

Well my look at this as your (former?) guild leader, creator of TFL, and Neopet enthusiast for 4 years is that people join guilds in Neopets for:

1. freebies
2. similar interests (in our case, anime)
3. because a friend told them to
4. random draw from a hat
5. they heard that it's the most popular and biggest guild around and want to check it out.

So to recruit them THERE wouldn't be a problem - however if you haven't noticed already, the age range of Neo users are usually between preteen to early teens. Plus most of them do not join the guild for graphics purposes. The point of this forum was to recruit graphics enthusiasts. (If only I had advertised it to all my online graphics friends.. Too bad I'm lazy... And they're busy...) I'm slowly trying to get you guys more active in doing graphics... And to do that, I need some effort by all people... If I can get things rolling, a snowball effect can occur so that weekly competitions (with or without prizes) can occur and I'd have over a dozen entries participating...

But yeah, you can go ahead and promote the guild, but for the most part, my site and this forum is somewhat of a separate entity in their mind. I don't even visit Neopets often enough for new members to know who I am and how I am. Most of you joined this forum because you've been with me since the guild started or was at its early stages... Different target audiences.

But go for it.

I never even joined TFL on Neopets. I was looking for a good layout for my user lookup on Neopets and stumbled on Phoenix's site as the best anime one's available (though I did like Dark's stuff Phoenix's catered more to my tastes...) I've horribly neglected my Neopets lately and really need to get back on that. Maybe I'll start doing that around advent time, I always like getting the daily advent stuff!

my only problem is the fact that once they join the TFL guild, they might stay here and be inactive. that's my only problem.

It wont be so much a problem of inactivity if we actually keep them entertained.. The only real problem is the maturity level.

And thanks to Phoenix, I have been trying to become graphics savvy lol.

As I've said before, once we see that they're active enough, we'll introduce them to here.

Actually we were once a 700+ member guild at our peak. Then I ordered Sei and Whisper to destroy about 400 of them... XD

i actually like the setup you made. you might want to show it to the other council members.

besides changing the TFL greeting(i guess you could call it), how are you gonna get people to look at our guild and see it?

Here's the thing. When I first started the guild, I bribed people with newbie pax and stuff. The TFL Bank account is well over 3 million in NP total with assets in the SDB of about another million or so of items. So bribing people is not a problem. BUT I REFUSE TO. We want real anime fans that won't just leave us in the dust after posting 10 posts and receiving their first avatar lend...

Then I say we provide them with a lively enough atmosphere to keep them in our clutches. For example when they join, we can ask them why they decided to join. We can even give them a nickname if they dont already have one.. You know, make them feel loved?

The only other option to prevent them from just coming to get avatars is to bump up the requirements.. But I think that may discourage some. I think it would be best to keep the hard to get/rare avatars for the higher ranks.

Plus, if they DO just try to post 10 times and leave, we break out the SPAM rule.

i don't think my question has been answered, Ziddeth. you have great idea to make the guild look more inviting.

but, how are you gonna recruit people? are you gonna use the guild boaeds on neopets? that's what i mean.

Yeah. I plan to post it once its ready and stay on a thread at the guild boards. If not, go to the literate guildless people and show them this.

but, good luck on trying to recuit people. i've tried. but, i haven't had much success.

i could could join up with you on threads. but, right now, i don't have the time. maybe other members in our guild? yeah.

TNT doesn't allow you to spam the guilds thread too often right? I remember getting warnings for advertising my site on it years ago LOL
