Okay, so I realized I want to start designing/making wallpapers but the thing is - I do not know where to start. I mean, I can design them but then how do some people make like...in a million screen resolution sizes? I think you start with the largest wallpaper size and then it goes on. I mean, I tried re-sizing them but they end up grainy and such @_@. But is there some sort of program that can make it into many different sizes?

Thanks for your help!

No one ever uses this section to ask about forum-related questions... XD

Yes, the trick is to make it at the biggest 4:3 resolution possible and to crop from there. When you make it 4:3, you can crop for widescreen and 1280x1024. My site's largest 4:3 resolution is 1920x1440. I make that res first, then crop to 1920x1200. Then I take the original 1920x1440 and resize it so that it's 1024px high and crop the size to 1280x1024. Simple right?

BTW, 1920x1440 is a very irregular size. The ones larger than that can go up to the 3000s, but usually 2000s somewhere... Forgot the specific res size. >__>

Sorry. I didn't know. xD It says the help section and...I needed help? xDD

Crop, like...how? D: I'm lost. Well, I figured you resize it? If that's what you mean. But then, I use a widescreen monitor [1600 x 1050] and when I resize it to fullscreen, it looks terrible. @_@;

So I'm having a hard time on this D:. It's practically my first time so yeah @_@;

Well you definitely don't use the crop tool...

First, create a NEW FILE in the resolution you want. Then take the original file size and resize it (IMAGE>>IMAGE SIZE) and resize (KEEPING THE ASPECT RATIO) it smaller.

For example, I'm turning my original 1920x1440 wallpaper to a 1680x1050 resolution wallpaper: I resize it to be 1680px wide and ignore what the height is turned to when in ratio. Then I simply move the original image over to the new 1680x1050 file and move it up/down to make the new widescreen wallpaper.

When cropping to widescreen, it's easy. Just take the large 4:3 resolution and resize the width keeping the ratio. When cropping to 1280x1024 however, you resize the HEIGHT to 1024 and end up having the sides cropped out. It happens.

Basically, when you make new resolutions, you are leaving out some parts of the top/bottom/sides/whatever of the original wallpaper. It's supposed to be that way.

Thanks Phoenix! Now I can use your lovely tutorials on using stock images and incorporating them in your wallpaper. This really helps me - a lot. Never thought of it that way, honestly.

My brain is frozen from not having a furnace @_@; it broke like...three days ago and luckily, it got fixed today.

SAY GOODBYE FOR 53 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT TEMPERATURES. woo 71.

Feel free to place your works in progress in this forum so that I can help when needed. ^_____^

I am planning to incorporate the forums into the site more, in the near future.
