Look who's here! The society is to blame, they try to hide it from us, but they just can't there are some countries that don't hide violence, and that's where we get all the info ( well I do )

But just because other countries don't hide it, doesn't exactly make it better in general. What kind of image is it portraying to certain age groups if violence is introduced in such a manner? Isn't that a form of promotion towards violence? If not, then what exactly makes it alright? The whole point of the matter is to avoid conflicts of such extremeties, and yet violence has somehow turned into an over-magnified sales line. Sure it's been a part of life and always will be, but descretion is key.

Maybe we should just just put it aside, is that what you're talking about? My uncle died for my freedom in the war in 1992, and now they're trying to make it all seem like nothing? What if something happens, like a war or something, children can't defend them selves, what then?

First off, you're not the only one who has relatives enlisted in the military. Relatives who have died in wars (Vietnam and WW2 for example). Fighting for freedom is one thing. Fighting within society and gangs like in Detroit, for example, is poor moral status and upbringings, which is what is portrayed in the GTA series in one form or another. When you can shoot a police officer in the game and get away with it is when things get sad.

Secondly, if people lean off of the senseless violence being viewed by underaged audiences, and were taught about the right and wrong reasons to fight, maybe society wouldn't have to take such measures. If a war happens, what CAN a child do? You're a child for friggin sakes! How bad would it be to see a child with a gun? Very bad, and very heart wrenching in all seriousness. Is that the kind of life you are implying is ok? Have a fun childhood while you still can, because you're going to spend majority of the rest of your life working and trying to stay afloat with bills anyways. Don't involve children in a war that wasn't made by them. Children are still wet behind the ears when coming to such mature decisions.

A point to make (this is a generalization): The more people view violence, the more accustomed they are to seeing it, and the less sensitive they would be towards it as well. Point? If people value life more, they try to work to prevent such hazards. Prevention is descretion, in a sense, and a means towards a better lifestyle.

Nobody's trying to make the war your uncle died for in 1992 seem like nothing. All life has purpose, and all losses are deeply felt. Sometimes people try to forget about the worst of times, like wars, so they can move on with their lives.

Another thing is that since todays society is mostly filled with people who haven't experienced death or war in person like previous era's, there tends to be less value put upon life. In turn, society becomes lax and changes in what we see today. Morality has been lost to inexperiences. I'm not saying we need a war or anything, just that we should take things into more consideration, and try to relate to what happened many years ago. Not everything that's traditional is wrong or out-dated. What kind of world would be living in if we say we promote peace yet subject ourselves to multiple forms of violence on TV and video games, let alone underaged audiences?

First of all, it's just a game, there's no way you can get away with it in real life, but we ALL realize that!

Children not in war? Do you know that children are used to stop trucks which are transporting any kind of merchandise during war. Have you seen children in Africa which have AK-47's and fight in all the wars and conflicts?

My uncle was 16 when he died, he was defending his Village in Bosnia, and died in front of his house with an empty gun! But let's not blame society, the war was just an accident, and all dead people are just collateral damage! You from developed countries are lucky, we had so many problems while we were growing up! 2 wars in 5 years, NO wonder I'm so screwed up!

The creator of Fahrenheit 911 made another interesting documentary about how Canada differs from the U.S. Forgot the title.. Anyway, he noticed the news in the US were always about some type of tragedy and that the news in Canada was not. Sure it reported wars outside the country, but there were no local shootings to report about.

The US lives in FEAR. How else can you tell people to take arms against and enemy that hates our guts? Yes, we are the supreme example of gluttony and for the most part, we are quite ignorant. I agree that massive amount of violent video games and TV desensitizes our youth against violence... However, war is very different as all 5 senses are triggered. Ever smell rotting meat before?

I personally think violent games aren't a biggie, however the push to buy them by the companies are... I'm a hypocrite. You just have to have the right mindset in that the game is a game. There's no way to put a distinct line between what is appropriate violence and what isn't. If you ban all games involving violence, there goes Final Fantasy, etc...

I was a little iffy about buying the game at first, but one of my friend's talked me into it... he seems to enjoy it, plus the Serbian protagonist is a plus for him, since he's Serbian as well..

but anyways I'll post what I think of it later after I finish it...or when my friend finishes it for me...I might be too lazy

as for violent video games....like Phoenix said, play it in the right state of mind and things should be okay...but then again, I guess that's kind of a rarity now days isn't it?
